Plumbing Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3

This apprenticeship is an advanced plumbing course covering all design aspects of the plumbing industry, as well as complex installations, sanitation, drainage, system design, business products and services, and renewable resources. It is ideal if you are working within the plumbing and heating trade and have a great deal of technical skills and knowledge. You will work with minimum supervision and have a good record of safety, fault correction and ensuring that work meets the required standard. On successful completion, you will gain the industry recognised qualification for domestic Plumbing and Heating engineers.
Entry requirements
Grade requirements: You will need a Plumbing & Heating City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma plus Functional Skills Level 2 Maths/ English and Level 1 ICT or GCSE A*-C or 9-4, or equivalent.
Course content
During this apprenticeship you will study a range of topics, including:
- Building services engineering
- Complex cold water
- Complex hot water
- Complex central heating
- Electrical installations
- Sanitation
- Onsite commissioning Solar Pathway:
- Environmental principles
- Solar exam
- Installation
- Commissioning exam
Assessment methods
You will be assessed through nine exams, seven practical assignments completed in College and one portfolio of on-site work completed and assessed in the workplace.
Qualifications
You will gain the following qualification:
Domestic Plumbing and Heating City & Guilds NVQ Level 3 Diploma
Further study and career options
Further study: Upon successful completion of this apprenticeship you could go on to study towards a Level 4 Foundation Degree in Building Services.
Future careers: You will be able to take a number of commercial courses to help you move into a career in the industry, including Gas Foundation and an Energy Efficiency course.
Additional information
You will be required to wear PPE boots and overalls or company issue clothing.
