Performing and Production Arts UAL Level 2 Diploma

This programme will provide you with an introduction to the performing arts area through group project work, including a choice of specialist pathways in acting, dance, musical theatre, production arts and theatrical makeup. The emphasis of the course is on developing skills for successful progression into the level 3 specialist programmes.

Entry requirements

To begin this study programme you will need...

Duration: 1 year

  • 3 GCSEs grades 9-3 or A* - D including English and ideally maths

OR

  • Performing Arts Level 1 Diploma with Functional Skills

AND

  • Previous experience within performing or production arts

Duration: 2 years

  • 3 GCSEs grades 9-1 or A* - G ideally including English and maths with a keen interest in music and evidence of previous musical study

Entry will also be subject to passing an audition where you will be expected to perform a short piece within your chosen discipline (acting, dance or musical theatre).

Course content

During the study programme there will be an emphasis on gaining practical performance experience, helping you to decide the routes you wish to take in the future.

    • Improvisation
    • Voice
  • English and maths:
    If you don't already have GCSE English and maths grade A*-C, we will work with you to help you develop your maths and English skills. 
  • Work experience
  • Personal development skills, study skills and employability skills 
  • Additional vocational learning and qualifications


Qualifications

Performing and Production Arts UAL Level 2 Diploma

Plus:

  • English and maths qualifications if required. 
Further study and career options

On successful completion of this study programme, you could progress on to a Performing and Production Arts UAL Level 3 Diploma, specialising in either acting, dance or production.

Additional information

To take part in this study programme there will be an additional fee of approximately £50 for trips/visits.

Funding information

All full-time Level 1 and Level 2 courses are now FREE for everyone, whatever their age. If you are looking to study a Level 3 qualification, courses are still free if you’re under 19 or 19-23 and studying your first full Level 3 qualification.
