Floristry City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate
The course ensures that you can develop your higher-level knowledge, understanding and skills that are required for employment in the floristry industry. This course has been developed to focus on the education and training of people who want to work in the floristry industry. It will give you an introduction to Level 3 Floristry, as well as the more advanced skills needed to be successful in the industry.
The Level 3 Certificate in Floristry is designed to provide you with the opportunity to develop your floristry skills without having to commit to a full-time course. This course is also ideal if you are already working in the floristry industry and wish to update your skills.
Entry requirements
In order to undertake this course you will need at least four GCSEs Grades A-C, one of which must be English, or alternatively an equivalent Level 1 qualification supported by good references along with functional skills in Maths and English.
If you are a mature student without GCSE results you will need to arrange an interview so that we can assess your current skills level and support needs.
Course content
This course will provide you with the opportunity to develop your Level 3 Floristry skills. It will incorporate elements of the principal techniques used in floristry and give you the opportunity to investigate your potential career opportunities. If you are interested in developing your skills but do not want a qualification you must speak to the course manager.
In order to complete this course you will need to complete three or four units, the number depending on the credit value of each individual unit taken.
You will complete one core unit:
- The creative design process for florists.
You will also choose two or more of the following optional units:
- Diverse flower and plant care
- Negotiating and agreeing terms and conditions for the sale of floristry products and services
- Planning, assembling and evaluating diverse floral designs
- Planning, assembling and evaluating diverse floral designs for weddings
- Planning, assembling and evaluating diverse funeral designs
- Planning, assembling and evaluating diverse tied floristry designs
- Working in the floristry industry.
As part of the course you will also have the opportunity to visit floristry events, flower markets and where applicable take part in competitions. Learners will not be required to undertake work placement for this award. However, learners wanting to progress onto the Diploma are strongly advised to find a work experience provider.
Assessment methods
You will be assessed continually as the course. A variety of assessment methods will be used, including presentations, case studies, portfolios and practical assessments.
Further study and career options
Upon completion of this course you can progress on to undertake a Floristry Level 3 Diploma.
Additional information
You will be expected to pay £630 towards the costs of flowers used on the course which must be paid on enrolment (Direct Debit optional). The price charged is based on wholesale prices and covers the ordering of flowers that are essential to make up designs. You may choose to bring in additional flowers for assessments, and you may be able to claim support towards this cost. Please contact the college admin team for more information.
