Introduction to Dental Care Level 2

This study programme will give you an introduction to the knowledge and skills required for a career in the dental sector. You will learn about dental treatments, NHS bands, infection prevention and control, dental customer service, health and safety, anatomy and charting, GDC and CQC organisations, and the dental team. In addition, this course can also be utilised to prepare you for an apprenticeship in Dental Nursing or Dental Receptionist. 

Entry requirements

3 GCSEs Grade A* - F or 9 - 2 ideally including English and maths, and a keen interest in the dental sector. If you are over 19 you can gain entry via a successful interview and assessment.

Course content

You will learn about dental treatments, NHS bands, infection prevention and control, dental customer service, health and safety, anatomy and charting, GDC and CQC organisations and the dental team

Assessment methods

You will be assessed through observations and exams. 


BCG Level 2  Certificate Introduction to Dental Care.

NCFE Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of the Prevention and Control of Infection.

Further study and career options

You can progress on to our Level 2 Working in Dental Settings, Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing, Level 3 Apprenticeship in Dental Nursing or Level 3 Apprentice in Administration (reception) or employment with a dental practice.

Additional information
Please note that an administration charge of £100 will be charged if learners do not complete the course within the allocated 16 weeks.
