Winning work by degrees

Monday 15 April 2019

The work of Bedford College’s BA Graphic Design student Daniel Rogers will soon be attracting visitors to a new Cafe in the Park opening in Parson’s Close Recreation Ground, Leighton Buzzard.

Daniel, who is completing the third year of his degree at Bedford College, welcomed the challenge and produced a range of materials which have been chosen by Director, John Gelder, and his colleagues from Community Action Bedfordshire.

The Cafe in the Park will be offering a friendly and welcoming environment where visitors can enjoy great food and make connections - at the heart of Leighton Buzzard by the end of April.

“Cafe in the Park is more than a cafe, it will help people connect with local services, community groups, social networks, activities and events and live life to the full. Daniel reflected this in his designs for the cafe,” said John.

Daniel RogersDaniel added: “Having the chance to work on new project such as this, including creating a brand and using it across various settings has been extraordinary. This was my first paid contract but I hope to win more.”

The Bedford College Group has its own art school where students can gain degrees in graphic design - called the South Bank Arts Centre based at its Cauldwell Street campus.

This centre of national excellence overlooks the riverside in the centre of town. Students from far and wide are drawn to the top quality competitions and work experience opportunities offered. These range from international and national challenges to design briefs from companies like Charles Wells, the long-established Bedford family brewers.
